With Valentine’s Day coming up, thrift stores are putting out the red, white and pink. Many of them have their own displays up, or have at least grouped it all together to entice you. It’s the perfect time to get some great accessories to create a pretty display. Use what you have around the house, add in a few thrift store treasure, maybe visit the dollar store – another great place to find inexpensive pieces – and your imagination is your limit.
I picked up a couple of red ball candle holders recently, as well as some great blingy red placemats. While I’ll do a little rearranging on Valentines Day to set the table, for now I put up a display of some of my favourites. Everything you see here is from the thrift store, with the exception of the balloon weight in the background and the rose petals, which came from the dollar store. The best part of this? It’s all reusable! Most of it will have a place in my kitchen or my big back patio so it will be on display in some way, year round. When I decided on red as my kitchen accent colour, it turned out to be extremely versatile!
The easiest way to put together your own display is to pull out your own items that are red, pink, white, lacy or heart-shaped Once you know what you have, you can group together the things that please you. To add a little extra flair if you need it, head down to your local thrift store and see what you can come up with. If you don’t have a thrift store, hit the dollar store as they usually have a ton of stuff out for Valentine’s Day.
