November + Netflix = LAUGHTER! It’s starting to get dark much too early. It’s rainy, damp and dreary. What’s a family to do when the weather doesn’t cooperate? Well, pop some corn and tune into Netflix, of course!! This month the comedy lineup is great and there are shows for both the big and the little kids. So grab a blanket, snuggle up with the kids and get ready to be entertained.
One of my personal favourites is Despicable Me. After all, who’s ever met a minion they didn’t like? This is a show that we’ve watched over and over with our boys, and we’re still not tired of it. Just imagine putting 3 of the cutest little orphan girls in the care of a man whose purpose in life was to be the best bad guy. Except he kind of has a heart, and a conscience, and a whole army of little yellow guys that wear blue pants. He’s got a plan to steal the moon, but instead, his trio of cute little orphans steal his heart. The whole movie is funny and there is so much for the adults to enjoy in this one – plenty of stuff that will go right over your kid’s heads and leave them looking at you wondering why you were laughing out loud. This is a MUST watch family movie.
Next up on our Queue is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I can’t believe I’ve never seen this one when it was one of the most talked about movies when it came out. Next weekend we will be having our family movie night and this is our pick. I’m thinking we’ll have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and eat at the coffee table to make it more fun.
And for the little ones – (and me, because I adore these shows) on November 26th Veggie Tales has a new season coming up with an all-new look. Veggie Tales in the House is coming to Netflix and bringing new adventures, new songs, and more fun with Larry the cucumber, Bob the tomato and all their friends. This faith-based series is great, as each episode has a point to make. In past episodes, they’ve dealt with bullying, fear, greed and more. I’ve watched my kids laugh their way through the show, and later bring it up to me when they’ve made a good choice. Seriously – talking veggies have made some great headway in our household. And I get a kick out of the show myself, so it’s a win/win watch for us.
Noddy in Toyland is another show I would recommend I grew up with Noddy. I loved the world he lives in and I still have my childhood Noddy books. A lot goes on in Toytown and the characters are all interesting. If you’ve got a young one with a good imagination, I highly recommend this show.
So curl up with your family, some popcorn, hot chocolate and the remote. Tune into Netflix and have a laugh together. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did!
